Grabbing the entire media’s eyeballs after the anti-racism controversy with

’s reality show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, Bollywood film actress Shilpa Shetty was catapulted to international fame. As she emerged a winner on the show, her PR strategist Dale Bhagwagar, who had also predicted her win, controlled her imaging and branding with a steel-like grip over what came out in the media. Introduction

Starting out in media twenty-three years ago, at the age of fourteen, as a contributor to newspapers and magazines, Dale Bhagwagar graduated to form his independent Entertainment PR agency Dale Bhagwagar Media Group twelve years ago.

He has been instrumental in shaping images of more than fifty film personalities. Some of the names include Hrithik Roshan, Shilpa Shetty, Govinda, Priyanka Chopra, Randeep Hooda, Shiney Ahuja, Vivek Oberoi, Esha Deol and Hollywood filmmaker Ashok Amritraj. Growth has come in leaps and bounds sinceDale Bhagwagar started out in the media line twenty-three years ago as a journalist, contributing articles to local newspapers and magazines in his hometown of Nagpur inCentral India. He was fourteen then, and studying in the sixth standard. Six years later, he joined a local newspaper as a trainee sub-editor and reporter, confirmed in a year's time, and was given charge of various desks such as City, Business and Features.

But it was actors and cinema that he really loved writing about and his fascination for glamour saw him move to Mumbai after his graduation in English Literature three years later. He joined the popular Cine Blitzmagazine as chief sub-editor and reporter, and set his pace when he managed to bag an exclusive interview with megastar Amitabh Bachchan on his second day on the job.

More interviews, scoops, stories, scandals and investigative newsbreaks followed, and as his confidence swelled, Dale decided to quit his full-time job to freelance for various national publications like The Indian Express, The Asian Age, Screen,Showtime and Movie Mag, among others.

In 1997, a premier event management agency faced a last-minute crisis situation in the promotion of a huge event they were to organize for the Indian Navy on the decommissioned aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. At this point, they approached Dale to see if he could be of any help in their promotions.
